CLIENT OBJECTIVE
The Muskegon Farmer’s Market is dedicated to providing residents with convenient locally-grown food, flowers, nursery stock, handicrafts, and baked goods. In an effort to support the revitalization of the city, the City of Muskegon aimed to relocate the market from its current location to the heart of downtown. Along with relocation, was the desire to increase the capacity for vendors and increase their accessibility to running water and electricity. Additionally, the city requested administrator office space for market staff and a demonstration/incubator kitchen for instructional classes and events.
PD SOLUTION
To meet the goals of the city of Muskegon, Paradigm Design created 128 covered outdoor vending stalls and an enclosed all-season vending structure with 11 stalls. Both indoor and outdoor vending stalls are furnished with running water and electricity. A new information center, administrative offices, commercial kitchen and restroom facilities were also installed adding to the value and functionality of the market. The new certified commercial kitchen, known as “Kitchen 242” was designed as a rentable facility for food businesses entrepreneurs, cooking classes, and culinary events. The new location has vastly improved visibility and accessibility of the market.
