CLIENT OBJECTIVE

With Fiat’s acquisition of Chrysler Automotive, Zeigler Automotive Group was ready to introduce the Maserati, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo brands to the West Michigan market. However, they would need to redevelop their existing Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep campus in order to accommodate the new showrooms and a dedicated service space. As Alfa Romeo was still completing American regulatory evaluations on its cars, the project would be completed in multiple phases, eventually nearly quadrupling in building size. Obviously, the design of the finished product would need to reflect the sophistication and luxury associated with the European brands.

PD SOLUTION

First, Paradigm Design devised the infrastructure for the entire project during construction of the smaller “Phase I” facility, making expansion easier down the road. By researching and modifying the desired Italian rainscreen cladding system, Paradigm allowed it to be made suitable for the harsher Michigan climate, and the second showroom embraced the brand’s European style with specialty lighting, luxury materials, and modern millwork. To combat glare and heat from the large South- and West-facing windows, Paradigm incorporated self-tinting, insulated glass. Finally, a state-of-the-art service addition with six maintenance bays was created to allow the servicing of all three specialty brands in one common space.
