Consumers Energy lowering renewable energy surcharge; change will save customers more than $22 a year

Starting this month, Consumers Energy is lowering its $2.50 monthly renewable energy surcharge to 65 cents, the Jackson-based utility planned to announce this morning. The change will save the average residential customer more than $22 a year.

Businesses and nonprofits get rebates from Consumers Energy for energy-efficiency projects

Close to 2,500 businesses and nonprofits around the state received rebates from Consumers Energy last year after making investments that made their facilities more energy efficient. In Jackson County, 76 customers received money back for spending on 120 projects. They included the county’s largest public school district and largest employer.
